Walking through a mist of questions
No answers;
Finding a way with an outstretched hand
And a foot on the floor
Groping through the mist of obscurity
Wandering in a darkness under the heat of a Sun
At noon, full grandeur, atop of the world
Absorbed into the shadow of feeling
Never looking up;
Study the impression of a silhouette as it flows
Flowing over the undulations of the passing ground;
Cerebral silence
Silence so thick you can hear the movement of the blood in your veins
Where thoughts come so loudly
They penetrate your consciousness with a dominance that owns all other senses
A sound;
Not a breath, a blink or a swallow
Look up only to be blinded;
Blinded by the light
Only the absence of which has created the negative so captivating;
Retiring back to the comfort of the abyss and the familiarity of shadow
Temporary solace in the simplicity that is me
my understanding
and the idle thoughts of pleasure and survival;
Continually the light and the wonder that is offered returns to the mind
and the eye is drawn to conclude that it is the source of all understanding;
Without the light
Shadow is only a thought;
Darkness leans to the light to exist;
Squinting your eyes
You strive to face the light
The warmth of the Sun;
Discomfort and pain accompany the first impressions
Yet the curiosity
The hope that the light affords
A greater perspective;
Strengthen the will and harden the resolve
Push forward and acclimate
Dilation permits the progression of absorption
It becomes apparent that life in the shadow
Was no life at all;
Confined in the middle of the potential of life
Yet even with full view of the surrounding landscape
All that the light seems to be touching
The field is limited;
Observing the path of the shadow's journey
The horizon swallows the option for seeing beyond recent memory
Journey's origin
Unknown
Captivating
As sailors from days long ago
The trail is eaten by absence and void
Suggesting extinction before existence
The mind's eye
Blurred
The spirit knows more
